EntreLeadership Post 1

Welcome back on this Monday evening! It is starting to get more chilly outside, here where I am at! You know what that means... Time for some hot cocoa and Christmas movies!!! Today we will begin to dive into EntreLeadership, primarily focusing on what EntreLeadership is and how it can be applied.

In his book, Dave Ramsey discusses both entrepreneurs and leaders and describes how they had come to mesh together into the right balance for his business. A few terms he used to describe the entreleader are: "passionately serving", "disciplined risk-takers", "courageous while humble", and "influential leaders" (page 10). He defined EntreLeadership as "the process of leading to cause a venture to grow" (page 11). He also discusses the importance of looking in the mirror, as your actions and attitudes will be reflected in the actions and attitudes of your team.

Additionally, Ramsey emphasises the difference between LEADERS and BOSSES, describing bosses as simply those with positional power who hang it over their employees heads. On the other hand, leaders persuade, walk with, and serve their team, not like those who merely stand above them with a pointing finger.  "Pursuasion is pulling the rope and positional leadership is pushing the rope. And we all know you can't push a rope" (page 15).

The last thing that I want to share with you is a powerful quote. Ramsey describes an orchestra conductor who had an impactful realization. The conductor stated, "I'd been conducting for twenty years, and I suddenly had a realization. The conductor of an orchestra doesn't make a sound. [His power depends] on his ability to make other people powerful" (page 16).  Ramsey relayed this thought, "I realized my job was to awaken possibility in other people" (page 16). This is impactful for me in my current leadership position, and can be applied many ways for many different roles!

Stay tuned, see you next time! Stay warm and drink lots of cocoa! 💚
